Aeromarine Dream! The Sea Dart Maiden Flight.

Updated: Mar 8, 2022

At this point, the dive watch genre has become oversaturated, pun intended, when it comes to the naming conventions of new timepieces. Nearly every sea creature of some prominence and notoriety, has a namesake timepiece, crafted at some point in time within the watch world. But leave it to Marvin Menke, and the Hemel Watches team, to come up with an creative name and design for their new dive watch, in a genre that typically lacks little of either.

Behold the Hemel Watches Sea Dart. Hemel Watches, a company known primarily for their Military inspired timepieces, ranging from Tactical timers, Field Watches, and Pilot Chronographs, made a serious splash into the Dive Watch sector with their previous effort, the Hydrodurance. The Sea Dart appears to be another solid contributor to Hemel's Dive Watch fold.

Hemel still kept to their Military and flight DNA with the Sea Dart. After all, the timepiece is named after the Corvair F2Y Sea Dart, a Seaplane / Fighter Jet prototype, which flew between 1953 - 1957; a nod to Hemel's Pilot and Military lineage, given the 3-6-9-12 numeral configuration on the dial. However, with the clean dive bezel, and 300 meters of water resistance, the Hemel Sea Dart's Aero-Marine design, holds true to its namesake, an air and sea creature of a much different variety.

The Sea Dart specs out nicely, with a case diameter of 39mm, making this timepiece universally wearable. North to South, the timepiece measures-in at 45mm, and the timepiece has a screw down crown; what true diving instrument wouldn't? The Sea Dart is powered by the Miyota 9039, automatic, mechanical movement, with a 42-hour power reserve. The timepiece and bracelet are crafted from 316L Stainless Steel, with high-polished, beads-of-rice center links, affording a nice visual contrast. And of course, you know a watch company known for crafting Pilot Watches, emphasizing visual clarity, is going to place emphasis on that same quality of visual clarity in their Dive Watch; the Sea Dart brings the lume for easy nighttime viewing!

The Hemel Watches - Sea Dart is offered in 8 dial colors, Black Abyss, Navy Blue, Juniper Green, Gilt, Full Lume, Robins's Egg, Salmon, and Pineapple.
