Stitch Fix Review

I was hopeful to be able to provide an update on my Stitch Fix clothing subscription experience, with the anticipation of receiving my most recent blind subscription order building; originally scheduled to arrive on December 15, 2020.

I must say, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the clothes received in my previous clothing and accessory fixes, exceeding expectations. The fit of the shirts and pants was better than average, probably better fitting than most pants or shirts I've tried on at a retail store. While most of the brands I've received are not household names, the thread quality, details, and construction of the items I've received, have been above average.

Nearly one month late (which I blame our wonderful United States postal system, and not the Stitch Fix service), my latest clothing fix finally arrived. And as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Once again, the quality of the items was above average, and fit my style, but there was no variety. I was sent 5 shirts, no pants, no accessories. And worst yet, 4 out of the 5 shirts were the wrong size, and the 5th wasn't in-line with my preferences. So excitement and anticipation was met with underwhelming reality.

I suppose you could chalk-up this fail to the strain of the holiday season on the Stitch Fix fulfillment and delivery operation. But if the company didn't have the inventory available to fulfill subscriptions, a well crafted email, explaining the shortfall in service, might have been a more palatable solution for their customers, rather than the disappointment of receiving what Stitch Fix had left available in their inventory.

I will still hold-out reservations on clothing subscription box services as a whole. But given the success of my previous clothing boxes from Stitch Fix, followed by the complete failure of my recent fix, this is certainly a big let down. Of course, I did let my displeasure be known to their customer service department.

I can say that my main reason for trying the Stitch Fix service, to improve my overall style sense, was attained. I'm definitely dressing much better, and with far more style than I use to, and I've got a much better idea of what clothing styles are best suited for my body type. And at the end of the day, that was the main goal of my experiment.
