What's my wrist-wear choice for today?
My Flavor Of The Day

Started New Year's Eve with a timepiece deserving of much more wrist-time in 2019, the Stuhrling Original, Doppler. Interesting, conversation pieces are definitely most sought-after by me, for addition to my collection. The Doppler showcases a manual-wind movement, through a partially skeletonized dial, in an interesting, horizontal bridge configuration. Add to that, a wonderfully patterned dial, and blued-hands, which don't really stand-out in the photo, and you've got a supremely elegant timepiece.
I don't really give a lot of wrist-time to dress timepieces, typically because I favor timepieces north of 44mm. But this Doppler satisfies my need for a larger case size, and has a magnificent presence on the wrist.
Pairing this white dialed beauty, with a Yak bone, copper-infused, beaded bracelet, with the copper element, supposed to carry with it healing properties, and who couldn't use some additional healing, both physically and mentally, going into the new year!

I made an evening switch to ring in the New Year, to the Stuhrling Original, Devilray Tourbillon, Limited Edition. The Devilray is a microcosm of my watch collecting approach in 2018, which was to concentrate on adding exclusive timepieces to my collection, that are limited in production or edition, or have an exclusivity about them, in the type of materials or watch movement that comprise the construction and design.
While the Devilray is powered by a Chinese, mechanical Tourbillon movement, Tourbillons, whether Swiss or Chinese in their origin and construction, are not your everyday, run-of-the-mill watch complications. So adding a Tourbillon, in most any form, is a welcomed addition for the majority of watch collectors. The timepiece was also hand-assembled, with final inspection of the movement completed in Switzerland; so the level of quality control found within this timepiece is excellent.
Pairing this exquisite timepiece, with a Tiger's-eye, beaded bracelet, which is a perfect compliment to the brown and tan tones, prominent within the timepiece. The muted, indoor lighting, doesn't do justice to the myriad of colors that pop from the dial of the Devilray. Simply an extraordinary timepiece to close out an extraordinary 2018. Here's to looking forward to all the wonderful things that 2019 has in store! Happy and healthy New Year to all!
