Watch of the day
What's my wrist-wear choice for today?
My Flavor Of The Day

For Thursday, I welcome a new watch into the fold, and a brand I've been wanting to experience for many years now, in the Alpina, Startimer Chronograph, Big Date. Alpina is a brand with true Swiss roots, tracing their lineage back to 1883. And the quality of this timepiece is a true reflection of why the word "Geneve" is prominently displayed as part of the Alpina name, on the dial and caseback.
Everything about this timepiece is just so. The feel and weight of the case, the mix of brushed and polished surfaces, perfectly aligned dial and chronograph hands, and a strap that feels like a hybrid mix of nylon, Kevlar, and sailcloth. This piece meets and exceeds, all of the expectations I had previously, of the Alpina brand.
Then there's the colors used with this piece. I previously thought that IWC was the only brand that could pull off the drab olive and khaki colors on a dial, I now stand corrected. The smart combination of khaki, brown, and red, just makes this dial pop!
Joining the dogfight with this Alpina Pilot, is a custom bracelet, crafted by Beads By Gonzo, perfectly capturing the colors of the Startimer dial.
