Watch of the day
What's my wrist-wear choice for today?
My Flavor Of The Day
For Sunday, I'm closing-out the weekend with the Alpina, Startimer Chronograph. Alpina is a brand that I have been wanting to add to my collection for quite some time, and finally the opportunity presented itself; and it was well worth the wait. Many times, brands will add information to a dial, only to attempt to increase the profile or cache of the brand. Not the case with the Alpina, as Geneve is indicative of the traceable, Swiss Made origins of the brand, and the quality of this immediately evident at first touch.
Prior to acquiring the Alpina, it was my thought that the only watch brand, that could pull of any form of drab Olive, Khaki, or Sand colors, tastefully and masterfully, would most likely be IWC; boy was I wrong. The use of drab colors in this Alpina is subtle, with a hint of red, but it's actually the sand color which provides the true POP on the dial.
The fit-and-finish of this timepiece is nothing short of exquisite, with the milling and finish of the case and pushers, near perfection. The strap almost feels like a hybrid mix of nylon, kevlar, and sailcloth, but feels extremely comfortable, while also being tough as nails.
Matching this camo Alpina Startimer, is a custom-crafted bracelet, created by Beads By Gonzo. But not too worry, even with this Camo combo, my Wrist-Game will still be a stand-out from the crowd.
