Tuesday's WOTD call, is the Spinnaker, Hull -California (Tactical Edition), and surprising to me, currently my only Spinnaker timepiece remaining within my current stable.
This newer incarnation of the Hull, is a definite upgrade over the predecessor, purely from an aesthetic standpoint, especially for collectors like myself, who have collections that lean heavy towards the sport watch genre. This version of the Hull replaces the polished case, for a more utilitarian frosted design, opted for an isofrane-style, rubber strap, in lieu of the leather strap, and decided to forgo the gradient dial, a prominent feature of the previous Hull version, for a heavily textured, California dial; it all adds up to a solid, dress watch to sport watch transformation.
When you opt to go with a California dial, the dial of course should become the main rockstar of the piece; and it certainly does in the case of the Hull. The polished, applied numerals and index markers, affords exceptional POP, against the textured dial.
