What's my wrist-wear choice for today?
My Flavor Of The Day
Thursday, just felt like a day to wear something fast and fun, heading into the home stretch of the weekend. To answer that call, is the Szanto, Danny Sullivan Icon Series, Racing Chronograph Mod. This is one of the few Black subscription watches remaining within my collection, from my Watch Gang subscription days. I guess I have such an affinity for this piece, because the dial mod and strap mod, makes this a true 1-of-1 timepiece; something that many collectors strive to achieve.
With this mod, I was really hoping to pay tribute to the long lineage of Gulf Racing inspired watches, without being a direct homage to any one specific timepiece; I'd say it was a success. The colors alone make this piece a pleasure to wear, automatically placing a smile on my face each time I strap it on.
A dial mod wouldn't be complete without a strap mod to accentuate it; and the Straton, non-round, 3-hole racing strap was the perfect answer, and the cherry on-top to complete the racing chronograph look.
For my accessory wear, I've opted for a marine-grade, rope bracelet, designed by Roplet, matching the dial color scheme perfectly. The only thing missing from my Wrist-Game today, is the Gulf Racing logo.
