Watch of the day (WOTD)

What's my wrist-wear choice for today?

My Flavor Of The Day

WOTD wrist-shot of the Alsta Superautomatic. Paired with a Shark rope bracelet, designed by Dorsal Bracelet Company.
Alsta Superautomatic

It was tough prying the King Seiko off my wrist, but for Wednesday hump day, I'm excited to strap-on another new arrival, in the "Hooper" bracelet, for my Alsta, Superautomatic.

I'm always amazed at how a simple strap modification, can alter the entire attitude of a timepiece. The OEM Tropic strap was a fantastic inclusion for this piece, but the revival of the "Hooper" bracelet, a throwback to the bracelet style worn by Richard Dreyfuss' character in the movie Jaws, definitely finishes this timepiece.

As iconic as this watch design has become, to watch collectors and movie buffs alike throughout the years, it was really an unintentional mistake by the prop director of the movie, that brought this combination to life. In a rush, the prop director paired a Speidel, racing bracelet, with the Alsta dive watch. The original bracelet even had curved ends, where it meets the lugs; a complete mismatch for this timepiece. For those interested in acquiring an original Superautomatic, examples in good to excellent condition will cost you upwards of $5K or more. Good news, Speidel has NOS (new / old stock) versions of the original bracelet currently available. The revival Alsta suits me just fine, and I get to keep a few thousands dollars in my pocket.

What better pairing for the Jaws Watch, than a shark, rope bracelet. This color coordinated offering, by Dorsal Bracelet Co, fits the bill. The only thing missing, a sign that reads "Beaches Closed, by Order of the Amity P.D.". I'm so in love with this bracelet, that this combo will serve as my Thursday WOTD as well!
