Watch of the day (WOTD)

What's my wrist-wear choice for today?

My Flavor Of The Day

Oris, Aquis, Great Barrier Reef, Limited Edition II

Thursday finds me wearing the Oris, Aquis, Great Barrier Reef, Limited Edition II. This timepiece is a bit of an irony, in that as magnificent as the piece is, it just doesn't get the wrist time, it so richly deserves. I suppose this conundrum is one of the byproducts of building a collection of keeper timepieces, or at least watches that stick around for a while. Without question, the Great Barrier Reef could easily hold the mantle of daily wearer, in most any collector's stable.

The Sellita automatic movement, and dial configuration definitely gives the GBR II a beautiful presentation, but it's the use of color contrasts on the bezel and dial, that gives this diver the POP on the wrist; the yellow splashes of color are a visual treat.

The only miss on this beautiful timepiece, is that the Oris rubber strap, still remains a bit rigid, admittedly after years of sporadic wear; and even with the ability to custom adjust the fit, still leaves the head of the watch feeling a little clunky on the wrist. Perhaps the bracelet version affords a feel of more balance?

As my accessory choice for the Oris, I've paired this piece with an Eagle Ray, rope bracelet, in color Peacock, crafted by Dorsal Bracelet Company, a perfect complement to the Yellow and Blue dial color. My Wrist-Game today, in a word, coordinated.
