What's my wrist-wear choice for today?
My Flavor Of The Day
Thursday finds the Bulova, Lunar Pilot - Special Edition back on my wrist, and strapping this beauty on, never gets old. This timepiece has lived-up to every expectation that I had, since first learning that Bulova was planning an entire line of vintage-inspired, timepieces, as part of their re-issue line.
A smart use of dial layering, surface and color contrasts really allows the dial of this Lunar Pilot to POP. Billed as the "poor man's" moon watch, the Lunar Pilot has actually begun to develop a large cult following of its own, among watch collectors. This special edition version, shipped on a Kevlar / Tropic style strap, but also included a special, date-of-mission NATO strap. The Date of the Apollo 15 mission is also engraved on the case back, a very nice touch. Without a doubt, the NATO changes the whole personality of this piece, giving it a more tool-like vibe.
A moon watch calls for a little moon rock, or at least volcanic rock that happens to look amazingly like the surface of the moon; a great pairing nonetheless. With this combo today, my Wrist-Game is definitely out of this world!
